Underground utility installation, equipment, trenching, piping and field operations across Fresno and the Central Valley.
These photographs come from underground utility projects around Fresno and the wider Central Valley: sewer and water mains, storm drainage, fire service piping, and the trenching, shoring and traffic control that goes with working in and alongside a live roadway.
Most of this work is invisible once the job is finished, which is exactly the point. What is worth looking at here is how a trench is cut and shored, how pipe is bedded and restrained, and how a site is left when the crew moves on.

Working Around Live Infrastructure
A lot of this work happens in or beside a live roadway, next to utilities that are already in the ground and still in service. That means potholing to find what is down there before the excavator arrives, shoring trenches properly, keeping traffic moving safely past the work, and coordinating with the inspector so a line is signed off before it is covered. It is slower than digging a hole, and it is the difference between a job that passes and a job that gets opened back up.
